Sanguine is a red pigment used a lot in the renaissance, it is compressed into a stick form or block

and handles a lot like charcoal. One can achieve heavy definitive line or a soft edge within the same sketch.

It is extremely responsive and can convey confidence from the hand.

This one has a lovely grain almost like an etching with suptle grey bister and sanguine colours.

Each one is individual and unique as they all come off the plate with different nuances.

These have sold for over $500 when framed.
